Monthly Ladies Class of '65 luncheons will be held the 2nd Monday of each month - date and place to be announced!
|

When we heard
that several out of state classmates planned to be in Baton Rouge over the
4th of July holiday, we decided to start a ladies luncheon event. A
total of 15 attended, including several daughters. We hope that this
can become an annual affair. If you have any suggestions about dates
or places (maybe we can go to Texas sometime because we have many
classmates there), email
mhaustin2001@yahoo.com
Please note: It was easier to just go with maiden names to identify everyone. We officially started a monthly ladies luncheon group in October 2006. Five of us met at Calendar's and had a great time catching up again. We decided to try to get together the 2nd Monday of each month. We meet at 11:45 at Calendar's on Perkins Road. We try to keep the same schedule each month so that any out-of-towners coming to BR can possibly make plans to attend. Emails are sent out to everyone whose current email addresses we have. If you're in BR at any other time and want to get together, just email us - we can always add an extra lunch date during the month! Hope to see you there! Please check out the Recent Family Pictures while you're on the website - I am adding new pictures as I get them. We'd love to enjoy everyone's pictures! Send them to mhaustin2001@yahoo.com or mail me a copy to scan. There were two more ladies luncheons where we traveled to Madisonville and Mary Lynne was able to join us for lunch. We sat on the deck overlooking the Tchefuncte River at Friends Coastal Restaurant. We stopped meeting for the summer and fall schedules proved to be too busy for anyone to attend, so we now meet for an occasional lunch. Please let us know if you are going to be in town - we're always up for lunch! March 16th, 2009 - Lunch Feb. lunch was cancelled Jan. 12, 2009 Festive Christmas
Luncheon at the LSU Faculty Club Nov. 11th - at the Grapevine Cafe
in Donaldsonville - 11:30
Six
of us met for lunch at Calendars after an extended summer break.
Penny, Martha, Helen, Susie, Annell, and Erin got together to catch up
from the summer and to share Gustav tales and pictures of grandchildren.
We also decided to "expand" the scope of our lunches and hope to go to
an outlying area of Baton Rouge for a fun time of food and shopping. June 16th Lunch Helen, Martha and Sandra had a wonderful lunch and chat at Calendars - Sandra was home for a few days - it was great to get to see her! Sandra is expecting a 2nd grandchild, a granddaughter later in the fall.
May 12th Lunch We had a nice group of six for lunch, including Penny, Martha, Susie, Mary S., Virginia, and Helen. We saw new pictures of Susie's 2 grandchildren, Mary S. grandson, Helen's newest granddaughter, and Martha's newest granddaughter. We decided to go to a relaxed summer schedule of getting together for any special visitors from out of town (or special occasions) during the summer whenever we decide - so be sure to let someone know if you're planning to be in Baton Rouge this summer and would like to meet the group for lunch!
April 14th Lunch
March 17th, 2008 lunch We had a wonderful
lunch at The Little Village. We especially enjoyed visiting with
Sandra, from Texas, who
February 11th, 2008 lunch Five of us met at The Little Village in downtown Baton Rouge. Our appetizer, Cheesy Bread, was really good. We all loved the restaurant, everyone's food was great, and the lunch prices were very reasonable. Apparently Monday lunches are not as crowded as normal. We all agreed to go back there for our March lunch. Enjoying conversation and lunch were: Penny, Martha, Virginia, Erin, and Kathryn.
January 14th, 2008 lunch Seven of us met at
Sammy's for lunch - Penny, Kathryn, Helen, Martha, Erin, Mary S., and
Pam. December 10th, 2007 Christmas lunch We met at the Faculty
Club on the LSU campus for a festive Christmas lunch. There were 7
of us - Luncheons were also held on October 8th, 2007 and November 12th, 2007 September 10th, 2007 lunch Helen, Susie, & Martha met at Calendar's - ready to move into the fall season and put the long hot summer behind us. Through emails, the "lunch bunch" was asked to consider changing locations for lunch. We came up with several suggestions for Penny, so we might be having lunch at a different location in October. If you have any suggestions, please send them to Penny. Baton Rouge has a "never-ending" list of great places to eat! It was also suggested that we might want to have more communications about what we're all doing - one idea would be to send an email newsletter - but that would require input from everyone about what they're doing, any trips, news, etc. Hope to see everyone soon! July and August 2007 - On vacation! June 11th, 2007 lunch We had a great group this month - there were 10 of us! Penny, Susie, Helen, Martha, Mary S., Susan, Kathryn, Erin, Virginia, and special guest, Sandra from Dallas! Lots of pictures of grandchildren were passed around and we all caught up on the latest news, adventures, etc. of the group. We are even thinking about adding more group activities, such as group chic movies, plays, drinks at Tsunami, etc. Any suggestions would be helpful!
May 14th, 2007 lunch Four of us met for a fun lunch this month. Penny, Susie, Helen, and Martha attended. Susie brought pictures of her new grandson, Brendon, born April 12th. - a real cutie! Penny also told us that Virginia has another grandson, Wynn (her son's child) born on April 30th.
April 9, 2007 lunch We had a great group of six at our April lunch. Penny, Susan, Martha, Virginia, Helen and Erin met and got to see pictures of Erin's 4 month old granddaughter. Virginia just became a grandmother again (her daughter's children) - this time of twins, a girl, Fairfax and a boy, Jack, born on April 9th! For those of you who may not know, Helen's husband of 27 years, Ed, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2007, from complications of pulmonary fibrosis. We were so glad that Helen was able to meet us for lunch - please keep her in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We also decided that May would be our last regularly scheduled lunch before summer. ** The summer will be scheduled on a more impromptu basis - let us know if anyone from out of town is in town or if anyone working will have some time off, and we'll arrange to meet for lunch during the summer! March 12, 2007 lunch There were seven of us
who met for lunch in March, including Sandra from Texas. Those
attending were:
February 12, 2007 lunch Eight of us met at Calendar's to visit with each other and with Peggy, who was in BR from Dallas. Those attending were Penny S., Susan K., Pam H., Evalyn B., Peggy E., Martha H., Susie B., and Annell T. It was great to have Peggy back in BR.! Our lunches are getting longer and louder - really fun!

January 2007 - no lunch December 27, 2006 lunch Six of us met at Calendar's to visit
with Sandra, who was in from TX. We enjoyed visiting with each other and
sharing pictures. It was a great Christmas season treat to be with
"old" friends - not in age, but from the past!
Five of us met for the Dec. luncheon - Penny, Virginia, Mary S., Helen, and Martha. Several others had planned to come, but couldn't make it at the last minute. It has really been fun to meet on a regular basis and get to know each other again. Although we have all changed and grown over the years, there is still that common bond from our school years and we've found that we have not really changed all that much! Unfortunately, our planned camera person was sick, so no pictures this month. However, we haven't changed much since last month's picture!
